Document Privacy Policy Effective 28 October 2026 Applies to All members and visitors
In short. We respect your privacy. We collect only the information you provide during registration and while using our dating platform. Your data is used to operate and improve our services. We do not sell personal information to third parties. Basic data may be shared with service providers for website functionality. You are responsible for information you choose to share publicly. By using this website, you consent to this Privacy Policy.

01 Overview

We respect your privacy, and we treat the details you share here as personal rather than as inventory. This policy applies to the Match Making Spot website, member accounts, our newsletter and any message you send to our member care team.

02 Information we collect

We collect only the information you provide during registration and while using our dating platform. That typically includes:

  • Account details — your name, email address, date of birth and password.
  • Profile content — photographs, a short description, and the preferences you set, such as community, age range, faith or location.
  • Verification material — the guided photo you submit so we can confirm your profile pictures are of you.
  • Activity data — who you matched with, messages you exchange, and the settings you change.
  • Payment details — handled by our payment processor. We receive confirmation of a payment and the last four digits of a card, never your full card number.
  • Messages to support — what you write to our member care team, so we can resolve your issue and keep a record.

03 How we use your data

Your data is used to operate and improve our services. Specifically, we use it to:

  • Create and verify your account, and show your profile to members whose preferences you match.
  • Suggest introductions and explain why we thought two people might get along.
  • Deliver messages, notifications and the newsletter you asked for.
  • Detect fraud, fake profiles and harassment, and keep the platform safe.
  • Answer your support requests and honour your privacy choices.
  • Understand which parts of the service work, so we can improve them.

We do not use your private messages to build advertising profiles, and we do not run third-party advertising inside the member area.

04 Sharing and third parties

We do not sell personal information to third parties, and we do not share your profile with data brokers or advertisers.

Basic data may be shared with service providers for website functionality — for example hosting, email delivery, payment processing and fraud prevention. Those providers act on our instructions, are bound by confidentiality terms, and may not use your data for their own purposes.

We may disclose information where we are legally required to do so, or where disclosure is necessary to protect a member from serious harm. Where the law allows, we will tell you that a request has been made.

05 What you share publicly

You are responsible for information you choose to share publicly or with other members. Your profile is visible to members whose preferences you match, so avoid including your home address, workplace, financial details or anything else you would not put on a public noticeboard.

Messages exchanged with a match are private between the two of you while your accounts are open, but we cannot control what another member does with something you choose to tell them. Please take the same care you would on a first date.

06 Cookies and local storage

We use a small number of cookies and browser storage entries that are necessary for the site to work: keeping you signed in, remembering your privacy settings, and protecting forms against abuse. We do not use advertising cookies.

You can clear cookies in your browser at any time. Clearing them will sign you out and reset your saved preferences.

07 Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, to object to certain processing, or to withdraw consent you previously gave. We honour these requests for every member, wherever they are.

  • Ask for a copy of your data by writing to support@matchmakingspot.com.
  • Correct most details directly in account settings; for anything you cannot edit, ask us.
  • Delete your account and its content from account settings, or ask us to do it.
  • Unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time on our unsubscribe page.

We reply to privacy requests within 30 days and will tell you if we need longer.

08 How we protect your data

We use encryption in transit, encryption at rest for sensitive fields, access controls limited to staff who need it, and logging of administrative access. Verification photographs are stored separately from public profile content and are never shown to other members.

No system is perfect. If we ever become aware of a breach affecting your data, we will notify you and the relevant authority without undue delay, as the law requires.

09 Retention and deletion

We keep account data for as long as your account is open, then delete or anonymise it within 30 days of closure. A small amount of information may be retained for longer where we must keep it for tax, accounting or legal reasons, or to prevent a member who was removed for abuse from immediately re-registering.

If you ask for deletion, you will receive confirmation once the process is complete.
